Larry T. in my 2nd hr class asked me how our government increases the amount of money for the US. Since I want more students to use this blog, I thought it would be a good idea to answer his question here.
The flow of money is influenced by the Federal Reserve. Think of this as a place where banks throughout the US go to borrow money for themselves. The Federal Reserve charges them interest to borrow this money. The Fed. just lowered the interest rate to 1% because this will entice banks to borrow more money from the Fed. Then the money that is borrowed is lent out to consumers (you and I) in the form of loans for cars and homes. Because our economy is poor right now, the Fed wants banks to borrow more, they get their 1% interest, then banks can lend money to consumers and charge them 3% for example, and make a 2 % profit off that money. If the Fed lends out more money, that leads to more consumer spending and that will improve our economy (hopefully). Hope that answers your question.

Goooooo 8B!!!!! Larry, Felicia, and Angela i love your work. Larry that pictures so cool. Felicia awesome article on Obama. Angela totally Awesome poem tooo.
I think larry cartoon represents Obama rising over McCain and achieveing his goal of becomeing President and the first African American President in History or that McCains a shrimp and Obamas taller lol jk jk<3
Elizabeth Chupp - November 26, 2008 at 1:26 am
This is my answer to Mr.B’s question about Larry’s political cartoon….
In this cartoon, there are many factors that can tell us that Obama was superior to McCain. For example, one thing that really caught my attention was how the scoreboard shows the number of electoral votes that each candidate recieved. Symbolism is shown in the cartoon. You can see symbolism because it shows how Obama was higher than McCain in the ‘08 elections. There was also a fan in the backround of the cartoon that was holding a poster with the word “change” on it. This also shows symbolism because “change” was what Obama promised during his whole campaign.

HOORAY FOR EXTRA CREDIT!!!!!!! This one’s for the extra credit dated 11/26…..
The state of Rhode Island didn’t sign the constitution. I believe it was because the farmers who ran their government didn’t want to get a stronger central government because they thought that they wouldn’t make as much money selling crops.

Mr.Benick i have your answer for your question….For the symbol for Larry’s drawing which is the phoenix..The phoenix represents the sun and ressurection
Anthony Lamarca - November 27, 2008 at 6:14 pm
This is for Mr.B’s extra credit :
At the bottom of the U.S. Constitution, the state wich is not listed is Rhode Island. I think this happened because Rhode Island did not have any representatives to ratify the U.S. Constitution.Rhode Island did not have a population as large as the other states. At the time, the population wasn’t large because there were more rural areas than highly populated areas.
